Challenges / Client Needs:
Lakeland Dairies needed to meet rising production demand with infrastructure that was showing its age. The plant was experiencing:

  • Limited intake capacity due to existing pipework constraints

  • Higher maintenance burden and risk of unplanned downtime

  • Pressure to improve energy efficiency and overall system performance


Our Approach / Solution:
After a detailed site assessment, we delivered a phased upgrade programme focused on capacity, reliability, and efficiency—anchored by a major intake extension:

  • Extended milk intake with over 4 kilometres of 4” stainless pipework, increasing transfer capability across the site

  • Replaced high-capacity pumps and compressors to improve process reliability

  • Installed energy-efficient HVAC and refrigeration upgrades to reduce running costs

  • Retrofitted and rationalised sections of the piping network for better flow and easier maintenance

  • Supported integration with existing automation for monitoring, control, and operational visibility

Results / Achievements:

  • Drastically extended milk intake capability through 4km+ of 4” pipe installation

  • 15% improvement in overall plant efficiency
